Mahdieh is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Civil Engineering, the City College of New York, CUNY, with special focus on Transportation systems.
Her research is focused on travel behavior analysis, activity pattern recognition, urban forms and its impacts on travelers’ choices, transportation networks modeling, and system resiliency analysis. She integrates different techniques of data mining, statistical analysis, and optimization models to study the movement of individuals in urban areas. Currently, she is studying the impacts of such disruptive transportation modes as collaborative logistics, shared ownerships, and shared-mobility on travel behavior, and consequently on shaping future urban areas.
