The NYU ITS and ITE Student Chapters are hosting short presentations by a series of experts working at the intersection of technology and transportation on Wednesday, April 25 in the C2SMART Lab. The presentations will be followed by a Q&A and casual networking session.

The presenters:

Tyler Green is a Software Engineer for Intersection, part of the Sidewalk Labs portfolio and developer of urban informatics and connectivity products such as LinkNYCand IxNConnect. He builds products to improve rider experience for major transit agencies across the United States. He is also involved in volunteer work, serving as Communications Manager for Young Professionals in Transportation – New York. Tyler holds a B.S. in Computer Engineering from the University of Kentucky and an M.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Purdue University.

Abdullah Kurkcu is a Research Scientist and recent Ph.D. graduate at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering. His research interests include traffic modeling and calibration, alternative traffic data collection systems, big data and analytics, GPS-based transportation data analysis, incident and emergency management, wireless sensor networks, social media analytics and transportation geography. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Istanbul University and Masters Degree in Transportation Engineering from Florida State University.

Carson Qing works as a Senior Transportation Planner for the environmental consulting firm AKRF, where he uses advanced data collection and GIS tools to study, model and visualize transportation usage. He is a former NYU student, earning an M.U.P. at Wagner in addition to his B.A. in Economics from Michigan. Prior to working at AKRF, Carson worked as a research assistant at the Rudin Center for Transportation at NYU, where he conducted research on emerging commuting patterns, and interned at the New York City Department of Transportation.
