C2SMART congratulates Srushti Rath, recipient of the Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS) S. David Ali Memorial Scholarship
This inaugural scholarship, in the amount of $2,500, honors the founder of Infra Tech Engineering, a traffic engineer who reached great heights through relentless dedication. This scholarship is awarded to an enterprising young woman who reflects those qualities regardless of obstacles and difficulties.
Srushti Rath is a Ph.D. candidate at NYU’s Tandon School of Engineering and a research assistant at C2SMART. She holds a Master of Science degree in Transportation Planning and Engineering, also from NYU Tandon. Her interest lies in leveraging operations research, machine learning, and supply-demand modeling in designing effective strategies for infrastructure planning, logistics and operations of emerging transportation systems (e.g., urban air mobility). Prior to joining NYU, she worked as an assistant executive engineer in the housing and urban development department, Government of Odisha (India), contributing toward India’s flagship smart city program. During the summer of 2019, she worked as a data scientist intern at Uber, San Francisco on pricing strategies for their upcoming air taxi service. Witnessing the development of emerging transportation technologies and the challenges faced by agencies in their integration in a multi-modal transportation environment, her goal is to provide sustainable, data-driven, and intelligent solutions to such challenges.
Currently, Srushti works with Professor Joseph Chow, Deputy Director of C2SMART, on his Urban Microtransit Cross Sectional Study for Service Portfolio Design using data from over 100 different city microtransit implementations, provided by Via.
