Oded Cats and Panchamy Krishnakumari, Capacity Allocation for On-demand Services
Abstract:
On-demand transit has become a common mode of transport with ride-sourcing companies like Uber, Lyft, Didi transforming the way we move. With the increase in popularity for such services, the fleet needs to adapt according to the demand and passenger demand needs to be predicted. In the seminar, we will present our work on capacity allocation for on-demand services, demand-anticipatory operations and analyzing demand patterns using spatial-temporal clustering.
Bio:
Oded Cats is Associate Professor of Public Transport at Delft University of Technology. His research develops methods and models of multi-modal metropolitan passenger transport systems by combining advancements from behavioral sciences, operations research and complex network theory. His research contributions focus on the development of dynamic transit assignment models, the optimiz ation of passenger service operations, network robustness analysis and real-time control methods. He co-directs the Smart Public Transport Lab at TU Delft, leading a research group that works closely with public transport authorities and operators.
Panchamy Krishnakumari is a final year PhD student at the department of transport and planning (T&P) at TU Delft, The Netherlands. Her PhD is on multi-scale pattern recognition for transport network predictions. Her main research interests are machine learning, pattern recognition, big data, network science and visualization. She has a dual Master of Science degree in computer science from KTH, Sweden and TU Delft. At T&P, she is part of DiTTlab and Smart PT Lab where she works in different data-related projects.
