C2SMART Project Webinar: Development of a Mobile Smartphone Application for Seniors in Urban Areas
PhD students Matt Vechione and Okan Gurbuz at the University of Texas at El Paso present research on developing an app that caters to senior transportation needs in urban areas.
This project, funded by C2SMART, aims to understand the lifestyle and mobility needs of seniors and to develop a smartphone application that meets those needs. Surveys on the lifestyle and mobility needs of the seniors in El Paso and in New York city have been completed, with more than 450 responses in El Paso and more than 60 in New York City collected and analyzed. Findings were used in the development of the application. After developing the prototype, another survey was conducted to collect first-time users’ feedbacks. This presentation highlights the features of the developed app and summarizes aggregated results from the surveys.
