C2SMART Hosts Traffic Fundamentals Workshop for NYCDOT
C2SMART hosted a two-day Traffic Fundamentals workshop for employees of the New York City Department of Transportation (NYCDOT), featuring courses on traffic control methods, simulation and modeling, traffic management technologies and congestion pricing, and more.
The workshop had 27 attendees from several departments at NYCDOT, with courses taught by C2SMART Director Kaan Ozbay, Deputy Director Joseph Chow, affiliated faculty Professor Elena Prassas and Professor John Falcocchio, as well as C2SMART research associate Abdullah Kurkcu and Ph.D. candidate Jingqin Gao. Jack Bringardner, C2SMART’s Associate Director for Education and Workforce Development Initiatives, coordinated the workshop.
Over the course of two days, the workshop covered the basics of traffic signals through the beginnings of more advanced traffic management techniques and technologies. The full agenda included the following courses:
