C2SMART Faculty, Students Participate in Urban Research Day
C2SMART Director Dr. Kaan Ozbay and several Ph.D. students presented research at NYU Faculty Urban Research Day, an event designed to convene faculty from across NYU to present concise summaries of their urban research as a way to share knowledge and increase scholarly collaboration.
In a faculty presentation group focused on sustainability and the environment, Dr. Ozbay shared research on the use of big data for modeling citywide evacuations. The event also included a doctoral student poster session, in which three of the center’s students displayed their research:
- Jingqin Gao – A Data-Driven and Integrated Evaluation of Area-Wide Impacts of Double Parking Using Macroscopic and Microscopic Models
- Abdullah Kurkcu – Big Data Applications in Transportation
- Yuan Zhu – Hurricane Evacuation Modeling Using Behavior Models and Scenario-Driven Agent-based Simulations
